Phantoms: very different from the typical New Orleans sound (I love Radiators - interesting to see that post-retirement their bassist has joined/formed the New Orleans Suspects. That guy Zeke could sing: one of the greats).

I think I mentioned before that I saw Television play City Hall, Newcastle, UK shortly after Marquee Moon came out (? 1977 ?). One of my favourite shows, it even had this unheard-of support band called Blondie who came out first.
Do you know Green On Red? "Here Come The Snakes" is the one I like most, though on "No Free Lunch" they do a good "Smokestack Lightnin'".

as for Green on Red, i'm familiar with their music, but not overly so; the only song i had on vinyl back in the '80s was the track 'Sixteen Ways' which i have to say was something i played a zillion times ... and of course Gas Food Lodging got lots of play on college radio which was the only radio worth listening to by the time the '80s rolled around
what is GoR's best LP in your opinion?

Arbuthnot, all this talk of the '70s has reminded me of Kevin Coyne and his wonderful "Marjory Razorblade" album. Do you know his music? Legend has it that he was asked to front The Doors after Jim Morrison's death - he certainly had the chops poetry-wise and was a good singer, although he wasn't blessed with Morrison's good looks. Anyway, he declined the offer, so we'll never know .... Here's three great songs from "Marjory Razorblade" that I think you will like (House On The Hill, Jackie and Edna, Talking To No-One):
